My name is Lori Bell and I have a degree in herbal medicine. I graduated from American College of Health Science ( www.achs.edu ) in 2003, with a Master Herbalist degree with Honors. I’v made countless remedies for my family, friends, pets and neighbors over the years for a wide range of ailments. It is my intention to help others feel comfortable in knowing that there are herbal remedies that are safe to use at home. When you or a loved one is sick wouldn’t it be great to know what do for them at that moment. I do not intend any of this advise on this blog or my web-site to replace the advise of a doctor, especially in emergency situations. But for an example, you have a tickle in your throat, you can go to you spice cupboard, grab your italian spice mix and make a tea and a gargle with it, then sip on another cup. I’d like for you, the reader to learn how herbal medicine works really well with our bodies to support it as a whole.
I know busy...
I’m a mother of 4 great kids, Jessi 18, Danielle 16, Zachery 11 and our youngest, Jacob is 9. I’ve been married to Chris, my high school crush for 21 years.
All of the kids are in sports and after school activities, our oldest is even getting ready to go to college! Add to this, we have 3 big wonderful dogs to keep the fun meter bumped up pretty high. And, like everyone else who lives in a older house we are constantly painting, fixing or repairing something on a regular basis. So having a good base knowledge on herbal medicine helps when someone gets sick or hurt, you just handle it right then and there and then jump back into your busy life. Most times when you jump on a sniffle, it wont turn into a full blown cold. And chances are you’ll get it under control before you ever even consider going to the doctors. I don’t want to mislead anyone about going to the doctors, there is a time and place for them. But I think there are times when we go to the doctors when we really don’t need to, and then we subject ourselves to all the germs in the office when our immune systems are low and can easily pick up a new cold. For me it was gaining the confidence to treat my loved ones when they were ill and and I know I knew what to do and to be patient while they were healing.
Prescription antibiotics are WAY over prescribed! Only one of my kids even took antibiotics! With the use of Echinacea, Goldenseal, Astragalus and a good probiotic you can support the body to maintain good health. Antibiotics are wonderful when you really need them. But when you over use them your body becomes use and they no longer work and you’ll have to get a stronger and stronger dose. They not only kill the bad bacteria but the good as well in your gut, the good bacteria needs to be supported with a good probiotic to keep them healthy so the can keep doing their job. If not thats when we experience stomach problems and yeast infections afterwards. How many women do you know that bought a yeast infection prescription at the same time as their antibiotics because they knew that within days that “little itch” will start up.
I have a very strong pull to share what I’ve learned about Herbal Medicine and how I incorporate it into our daily life.
Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Janine, I am the aunt of Kaycie who is a friend of your daughter. We had lunch together yesterday down by the beach and we got on the subject on how I am going to a herbalist to cure my weaken immune system. I jokingly called her my Witch Doctor and laughed and told her that I am going all natural and that's when Danielle told me about you. I think that you will be my new best friend! Danielle, gave me her jar of ointment to use on my skin condition and I will definitely let you know how it works!
